Hands up if you want to swap Christmas cards @ 05:31 pm

[info]larimoon:

I've finally got round to starting making Christmas cards so before I got carried away I thought I would check how many I need to make!

So if you want to exchange cards this year leave a comment.

6 weeks till Christmas = panic @ 07:11 pm

[info]larimoon:

Didn’t get to the next stage of interviews for the job.

Went up that town yesterday, couldn’t find anything interesting in the library but I did get a 300g bar of choccie on the market, unfortunately the packaging was in Spanish. Sis and I came to the conclusion that our Spanish was not up to the task and the only way to find out what was in the choccie was to buy some and eat it! I would have spent more time with sis but she was struggling with a misbehaving pushchair so I figured she had more than enough to deal with.

Is anyone else alarmed at how quickly Christmas is creeping up on us? Luckily I have half the presents bought already and out of the 6 left to buy I know I am getting DVDs for brother’s two girls and clothes for sister’s two. That leaves the parentals.

I think the fact that the shops have been full of Christmas stuff since September meant that I hadn’t twigged how close the real thing was getting.

I had a bit of a panic about my finances and have decided to cash in a £2000 investment I made a few months ago. This will allow me to afford the rest of the Christmas presents and other luxuries such as rent etc. Of course this is only if I can get NS&I to send me the form to fill in. I followed the ‘contact us’ info on the website and sent a message but got a response telling me I had to call the contact centre. Tried 5 times and got told the line was busy each time so I ended up sending another email telling them that their ‘award winning’ contact centre wasn’t very good and could they please pass the message on to someone who could send me the form!

I’ve re-listed the last few jigsaws and books of mum’s on ebay along with a few other books and an old copper coal bucket of Nana’s.

I’ve got a short day of work tomorrow, then Monday I am doing 10am – 2pm at one company then going to another job from 2is till 5.50pm.

p.s. have eaten too much choccie!

For anyone in the UK, go here for free choccie! - http://www.milka.co.uk/milka2/page?PagecRef=625

I have an interview on Tuesday for a relatively low paid job for 40 hours a week that I am completely over-qualified for. Wish me luck!

I had a go with mum’s sewing machine and it didn’t go horribly wrong, go me! I even managed to sew more or less in a straight line, which is a good thing since I have the fabric to make two skirts already.

I have been amazingly bad at updating livejournal @ 07:13 pm

[info]larimoon:

Not that I have done that much better on Facebook, and now sis has talked me into Twitter too!

So lets see what I have been up to…

On Saturday I went shopping for a knitting pattern and ended up buying a pair of shoes – oops! Mum had wanted a new pair of sturdy winter shoes (she is turning into the Imedla Marcos of St Albans) so I was wandering around the shop waiting for her to try some on when I saw some nice shoes with a fairly low heel. I ignored the fact that I have about 10 pairs of shoes already (counting boots and sandals) and tried them on. The size 3 (European 36 I think) fitted great and were comfortable so I ended up buying them. I was going to try them out yesterday when we walked to the local supermarket (about 1 mile there and back) but it was pouring with rain so I wore my boots, which I hadn’t worn since last winter and which rubbed me.

I’ve decided to knit myself a cardigan, since I can’t find any nice ones in the shops, hence my looking for a knitting pattern. Unfortunately none of the patterns were designed for someone petite, the shoulder seams were half way down the models’ arms – they would probably have come down to my elbows! I’ve found a pattern on Ravelry which isn’t 100% what I was looking for but better than nothing.

There has also been lots of digging, I now have 3 squares each measuring 6x6 foot, but mum still thinks that is not enough!

I’ve been selling loads of mum’s stuff for her, not out of the goodness of my heart but for a 50% share of the profits! Once again it is amazing what people will pay for things, an ice cream maker that mum paid less than £20 for went for £23!

Now I’m going to have a nice soak in the bath. If I’d known we were going to walk to Morrisons supermarket I wouldn’t have bothered going on the exercise bike this morning!
